Our sample sacks of African firewood logs are ideal for when you want to try before you buy in bulk. At a 1-2% moisture content, you'll achieve a long/slow burn time with virtually zero smoke production and serious amounts of charcoal, making them a superb cooking wood for the BBQ or braai. Kameeldoring and Sekelbos available.
Our African firewood has the lowest moisture content of any of our firewood and possibly any firewood in the world. It is baked by the African sun to between a 1-2 % moisture content (compare this to air-dried woods at around 18-25% and kiln dried wood at around 8-12%). Both Kameeldoring and Sekelbos Firewood have an ultra low moisture content due to the lack of water in its habitat and then the job is finished off by the unforgiving African sun.
The benefits of this low moisture content, dense and beautiful African Firewood include:
- An amazing long/slow burn time
- Virtually zero smoke production
- No wasted energy (burning off excess moisture) giving the very best return in calorific value
- Packed in clean, easy to handle 20kg (approximately) large polypropylene sacks.
Both species burn with a minimal flame, an aromatic fragrance and create serious amounts of charcoal, making them ideal for use on a BBQ or braai. This is a superb cooking wood, however they can also be burnt on fire pits and chimneas.
Our African firewood is responsibly cropped with governmental co-operation with local landowners and farmers.
Each sack weighs approximately 20kg.
Available in single 20kg sacks and 2 x 20kg sacks.
To encourage air flow around your logs, we recommend that you store them in a raised log store or on a pallet to keep your logs away from moist ground. We do not recommend stacking them up against a wall or placing them on grass, as air won't be able to flow and the logs can become damp.
For ease when building your fire, we recommend our boxes/nets of kindling and our Ecofire Natural Firelighters.
Sample nets are delivered by parcel courier to UK mainland only.
